Even though I love cooking...each day trying to figure out what to make is usually a struggle. How many of you feel the same way?

2014 - A Year in Review
Well folks...2014 flew by so fast that I'm not quite sure what really happened and if most of it was a dream or not. And here we are half way through the first month of a new year! It truly is amazing how much has happened in the past year...and how many people are now on this journey with me.

Some Days Call For a Pot Roast
It's funny how some days I crave a steak, or other days I crave chicken enchiladas...but there are those days when there is a chill in the air that you want something that will stick to your ribs a little better. On those days I pull out my recipe binder and thumb through until I find the perfect recipe.

Nothing Beats a Big Fat Bolognese
When the moon hits your eye like a big-a...pizza pie...that's a BOLOGNESE. Okay. I know that isn't how the little song goes...but honestly there isn't anything better than a big bolognese! And who do I turn to when I need the recipe? You got it...Anne Burrell!

Preparing for Fall
Well folks...I hate to tell you this...but Fall is coming. The giant leaves on the big leaf maples are already starting to turn colors and some have already hit the ground. I'm not going to lie...Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. I love everything about it...some things more than others.

Beatin' the Heat
I'm not sure what the temperatures are like in your neck of the woods...but I do know that here in Snohomish...they've been hanging out in the 80s! And if you know anything about me...you know that the good Lord built me for colder weather.

Rainy Days = Comfort Food
This summer has been quite interesting to say the least around these parts! When we first moved to Snohomish it rained almost every day! And when I decided to work on my coop, it was sweltering for two weeks straight! Butthe clouds have come back every now and again...some days bringing rain...others just bringing some relief from the heat and humidity.

Napa Valley Conference - Day 4
Today was the final day of the Healthy Kitchens, Healthy Lives conference in the beautiful Napa Valley. While the days were extremely long, and some of the talks rather boring (for me personally), I'd say all in all it was a fantastic conference and the highlight of it all was definitely today.

Napa Valley Conference - Day 3
It was another gorgeous day here in the Napa Valley. I truly do feel blessed to have the life that I do, and the opportunity to travel to the places that we do. We've really enjoyed our time here so far...but that being said...the days have been very long and some of the lectures have been a bit dry.

Napa Valley Conference - Day 2
I honestly have no idea how my eyes are still open right now. It seems as if we've been here in Napa for about a week and a half...it's hard to believe we just flew in yesterday! Today was a long day with the conference going from 7 AM until 5 PM.

Napa Valley Conference - Day 1
I feel like I'm sitting in an Italian villa drinking my white wine...but I'm really in Napa Valley in a cute hotel called Villagio. Michael and I are here for a four day conference (that I was dragged to against my will) called Healthy Kitchens, Healthy Lives which is being held at The Culinary Institute of America in St. Helena, CA.

Thanksgiving Here We Come!
Another year has flown by, even though it feels like it was only yesterday that I was making my first Thanksgiving turkey in my new kitchen! It's hard to believe that it's already been a year, and thinking back I have so much to be thankful for that I don't even know where to begin.

Tomatillo, what?!
Tomatillo, what? More like...REAL Housewife of Snohomish County, WHAT?!? I know, I've been absent so long from my blog I'm surprised that people are even still checking it out! How about this...it was actually on purpose, I wanted you all to go all the way back to post number 1 and read everything! :) Have you? No? What?! Why not? **See how I shifted the blame here!** :) Well I suppose I should really talk about what I'm here to talk about...tomatillos.

Mini Vacation...Day 3...Back Home!
Now I did say at the beginning of this series of posts that it was TWO mini vacations. Now I wasn't lying about that at all! Today, we made our way back to the United States...back to our home where we'll be for the next day or so. But have no fear my faithful readers...we will be back on the road shortly!

Tried and true...with something new!
It's been a bit on the warm side here in Edmonds, and yesterday it seemed to break just a bit. While me and the boys hung out inside, the chickens had the run of the yard. The girls loved foraging all day, especially after I mowed the back lawn and stirred up all the bugs! :) When it came time to decide what was for dinner I pulled out my cookbooks and started thumbing through them. I smiled as I planned the dinner and knew that it has been a while since I did a dinner post so this was the perfect one!

Exciting Times at The Farm!
It's 1:15 AM, and I really should be sleeping. But let's be honest, I can't sleep, not with all this exciting stuff happening! What's going on? Do you really want to know? Okay, I can't contain myself anymore...

Come dine with me.
In some families, when you are invited to join them for a meal...you know you are someone they consider family or friend. The same is true for my house.

Hectic Days at "the farm"
If you've ever spent any time in the Pacific North West you know that when the sun come outs...you hurry the hell up and get all of your yard work done. Because you know that if you don't...it's going to rain the very next day! And that, my dear readers, is what I've been doing the past few days. And because of that not only has my blogging taken a back seat...but my housework has as well!

Who wants chili?!? I do! I do!
Okay...chili has to be one of my favorite comfort foods!! I can eat any kind of chili, any day of the week and for any meal! You can serve it to me in a bowl with crackers, over a hot dog or even over nachos! Honestly, I'll take chili any way you serve it! :) That's the beauty of chili...you can make it your own and serve it however you want it...and chances are that it'll be good!

Just one of those days...
Ever had one of those days that no matter how hard you try to get ahead, you feel like you are running about 20 clicks behind the rest of the world? Today is that kind of day for me. I feel like the hours are just flying by, and that I haven't completed many of the tasks that I needed to today. Maybe it's the weather...yea...that sounds good. It's the weather!
