Over the past couple of weeks I've been elbows deep in projects around the house and yard. As you saw in my last post I've been building things like a mad man! :) Thankfully I've almost completed the yard edging and trimming so that's left me time to tackle other projects!
I can't even begin to tell you how much I love my new workbench in the garage! I've definitely made use of it since it's installation! The garage has become a place that I'm honestly not scared of anymore! And I know that with the shelves and organization, Michael no longer has an aneurysm every time he walks through the garage! :)
In the past week I've tackled three wood working projects. The first being the flower boxes that sit on the wall between the yard and the garden. Last year I purchased what I thought were well built cedar boxes from Home Depot. You know the type I'm talking about, they are attractive and have the black inserts in them to plant things. Well...they were cheaply made and were starting to fall apart. So I used the same decking planks that make up the front of my compost enclosure to build the boxes. I'm happy with the way they turned out, and in the next couple of weeks I'll be pulling out the pansies and planting different flowers to make that wall look pretty again! :)
The next project wasn't for me...I decided to build something that Michael has been wanting for quite some time...a garden work bench! So I asked Michael to tell me what he wanted, find a picture of something similar and then I'd make it happen. And I have to say that I am pretty impressed with myself. I built this bench in about 3 hours, with no plans. And Michael is thrilled with the results!
And yesterday I decided to finally put in a more permanent fix for the front gate. When we moved in, the builder didn't continue the sidewalk through the gate...and it's so dumb that he didn't. So I put in some cement pavers to keep the dogs from digging under the gate and escaping. Well yesterday, with the leftover lumber, I made a "wooden sidewalk" to take the place of the pavers. It's not centered perfectly, but it is going to work, and is quite a bit more attractive than those pavers were!
Here it was before...(mind you I used four of the pavers to put under the legs of the garden bench lol) |
Created the wooden sidewalk |
Here it is installed. What a chore digging that area out! Phew! |
Because of the footings for the fence posts, it didn't fit quite like I'd planned. But it looks pretty good! |
Over the next couple of days I'm going to be working on my blog...completing the "Housewife's Recipes" page, putting up a page with the links to all of my videos and mainly just doing some spring cleaning! I've realized that over the past year and a half I've featured a ton of recipes on my blog and I don't really have any way of directing people to them. So on my "Housewife's Recipes" page you will find a list of all the recipes that are on my blog, as well as a link to that blog post and recipe!
I recorded a new video while I was in Hawaii, and I don't recall if I posted it here or not! You can find the video for "My Hawaiian Breakfast" on my YouTube channel! :) Hope you like it and try it out! Let me know if you do! :)
I have so may other things going through my head today that I know I want to write about, and I have some exciting news to share with you all as well! But those will all come in the next week or two! So keep checking back, looking for the changes, and keeping an eye out for the announcements! I'll be doing another contest in the coming weeks, this one will deal with cooking! And I'm excited for the prizes! :)
Until then...let me know if there is anything you'd like to see on my blog, or a video you'd like to see me add! Well I need to go and get ready to head to town for Healing Club 1, 2, 3 at The Healing Center. Until next time...Keep Cooking!
